Here's how America's biggest companies are spending their Trump tax cuts (It's not on new jobs)

Hey you middle class Trump people, you didn't think those tax cuts were really for you, did ya? Hahahahaha!
We’re starting to learn what America’s biggest companies are doing with the huge windfalls from President Donald Trump’s tax cuts. And the answer is great for investors – but not so great for workers.

That’s because many companies are returning huge portions of their billions in tax savings to shareholders in the form of share buybacks and dividend increases — not necessarily new hiring and investment.

My middle class 401k is fine with it. I’m not for the tax cuts (I AM for massive spending cuts) but corporations doing what’s best for their shareholders is kind of a "no shit" sort thing.

I assume that your 401K is heavily invested into individual stocks, and not mutual funds and index funds?

Well yea duh so many people were saying that's what corporations were going to do but Republicans sold it as it "trickling down" to the workers, to the lower people on the totum pole.

It's trickling down to retirement accounts. But anyone who believed that they’d be handing out raises to people are idiots, and the politicians that sold it that way are politicians (ie evil). At the end of the day business decisions focus on what’s best for the owner. That’s simply how it works.

From your link

California, New Mexico and Hawaii have the largest share of struggling families, at 49% each. North Dakota has the lowest at 32%.

It seems the answer is to not live in high cost areas..?

so basically everyone that voted for Trump? And Trump and the pubs are the assholes that sold it to them.

It's amazing that there was no one pointing any of this out before this passed. Simply amazing!

Or you could live in North Dakota...where there are no jobs, unless you want to crush rock to extract gas particles on a 6 month contract. Yeah, talk about winning.

Hey, guess what, genius? High CoL areas have many diverse jobs and great schools. What a fucking revelation.

If you are struggling to put food on the table and pay rent maybe that ND job makes sense?

Surprised?
In 2008 the taxpayer bailout, that bailout supposedly to save all of mankind, most of that went to CEO bonuses.
Is this just some fluke? A misunderstanding from Trump?
No....
It was, as usual, very well planned.
Because we're so rich and they're so poor.
The poor billionaires.
They really do want it all.

Politicians are not the idiots. The voters who elect these people, against their better interests are the idiots. GOP base falls for that shit everytime. Maybe you can explain it.

Retirement accounts vary greatly. Watch where you're putting it, the housing bubble cost people 401ks big time.

This is a sad attempt to justify the tax cuts. Any money you're getting back now, better be saving it. '19 and on, healthcare will be exploding again.

Re OP: corporations are doing exactly what they said they would. Lolling all the way to the money pile

Oh destroying DC was on the ballot I missed that. BTW lol the swamp is even deeper and even fox acknowledges it.
Haha, Trump fits right in with the Republican party of new. Brazen money grubbing douchebags. We're seeing a transformation, and many of the Republicans of old are having a difficult time with it.

The population of CA is ~40M. The population of N Dakota is maybe 800K. The number of opportunities in N Dakota is obviously extremely limited & utterly beside the point relative to CA.

But do your best to defend the right wing lootocracy.

gotta provide returns on those investments above all else....it's not like americans are struggling or anything - http://money.cnn.com/2018/05/17/news/economy/us-middle-class-basics-study/index.html

yes a company's job is to make money. but a company also (IMO) has a duty to help improve society. this means ditching the profits-at-all-costs mentality. good luck changing that, though.

No company has a "duty to help improve society". Their duty is to the owners of the company - shareholders. With that said, no organization of any type can do harm to the public but through their business practices can do benefit as a result of their work.

Their are many jobs going unfilled in ND. Oil field work in particular pays very well and with the price of oil recovering, I would expect to see a significant increase in drilling if it is not already happening.
