Try to connect four independent points to form three non intersecting triangles.

EDIT: four points meaning you can dot four dots on paper and try to connect them with lines.
 
I cannot get this to work with 6 lines though.... I've been able to come up with 4 discrete non-intersecting triangles many different ways (including going into 3 dimensions) And, I've been able to get 6 discrete non-intersecting triangles. But, not 3... except when I used 5 lines.
 
Like dabuddha said, there are four triangles. I messed up in the original question and said three, it should have been four non intersecting triangles. Don't think of this puzzle from a two dimensional perspective, rather 3 dimensional, and you'll have the answer.
 
Grrr.... I wasted all that time trying to get 3 with 6 lines (I proved it's impossible), and you mean to tell me you meant FOUR triangles?!?! Grrr
