My friends and I had dabbled in something like this a few years back. We were going to call our group FAST or F.A.S.T. which stands for Future American Success Training.
We would have meetings to discuss progress and to motivate each other towards our goals.
It was not necessarily all about monetary riches, it was more about removing procrastination from your life. Any activity that would make you a better person would be encouraged, and not procrastinate in performing functions into acquiring that goal. It could be learning an instrument or foreign language for example.
First, since Anandtech is on the WWW, FAST wouldn't be a correct acronym since it is worldwide.
To maybe clarify what I'd want out of this, I'll give my personal example.
My company is down the tubes. I'll be losing my job any time now. I'd like to go into business on my own. Problem is I don't know what.
What I'll need to do is research. Purchase a couple of books on the subject of being an entrepeneur. Hit the library for more books.
Remove stupid pastimes that take up hours in my day that are wasteful. Not come home and play Gamecube or go to the bar for example.
Then I'd need people from here asking me my progress and if necessary shame me if none is made.
That would go along to you as well checking your progress towards your own goals.
Think it would work here?
