With Palin as VP McCain becomes unimpeachable.
Which is important since we have seen the growth of the Unitary President and the stacking of the Supreme Court with judges who are very friendly to the Unitary President concept, and may just be a judge away from a radical restructuring of the American government.
What if McCain decides to invade Iran, for instance. And Congress votes to stop him by cutting off money, etc. And McCain says he can use any money appropriated by Congress for any reason he sees fit (the basic concept of the Unitary President).
Would we impeach McCain knowing Caribou Barbie will be President?

Let's see, 2 days ago Techs post count was in the low 8100s. Now he's approaching 8400. He'll be at 10k by Thanksgiving -- mission accomplished!

"Caribou Barbie"...you make that up or are you regurgitating it from one of your favorite web sites?

They called her that on SNL this weekend from what a friend told me.

Yes, mccain would have to be removed if he was found guilty of something illegal. There would be no choice if we are to continue to be a nation of laws. We don't decide to not remove a mafia boss because his successor might be worse.

McTraitor picked a bitch to nowhere as his running mate, not because the US needed an inept nobody from nowhere to become President, but because his own election as President took priority over the good of the country. He does not have the judgment to be president. He folded under pressure and made a titanically bad decision.

I think the technical name for this move is "the Agnew Maneuver".

I doubt it's in Senator McCain's playbook; he was looking at the "solidifying the base"/"grabbing disaffected Clinton supporters" angle.

Have you seen the number of people who turn out to see Palin in person?? You can claim fail all day long, but when 60,000 people show up to see her speak that says all you need to know.

BTW:
Obama got 100,000 people to show up in Saint Louis. A metro area with 2.8 million people.
Palin got 60,000 to show up and see her at The Villages in Florida. An area with a population of 75,000.

What is more impressive?

ummm wait... some say her crowd was only 25,000. Still a huge turnout in a place that small.

that does not make her qualified for the post of VP or President.

Thread is not about her qualifications. It is about why he picked her. I presented a good reason.

BTW Obama is not qualified either.

McCain had to find someone who helped his run while at the same time a person far enough from Bushism to counter that issue. Palin is about the best he could hope for. She brings some women to the issue and she has charisma. I disagree that she'd be an awful President... I think she as Governor shows some executive savvy...

I've voted already, but for McCain I might have voted Republican...

Since when did we start qualifying candidates with prerequisites? Anyone can run for office, and we as voters decide if that candidate deserves to lead our nation...no candidate goes into the office of the VP or Presidency qualified for the position...it is what they do once they get there that matters.

BTW Obama is not qualified either.
shhh...you aren't allowed to say that here.

say it all you want, people disagree with you.
People at one time also thought Bush was a competent President.

Searching "Caribou Barbie" in P&N brings up no less than 15 hits going back to Sept. 5th, Doctor. So nice of you to join the rest of us at this late date in the proceedings.

And I address you as "Dr." assuming you're a real Doctor, Doc, and not, I dunno, some sort of tawdry comic book "hero". ;) :p

I think the important point of pj's statement is that he doesn't think Palin is qualified to be president.
