Here's a real logic riddle

that one of them is going to get lucky with her over the weekend.. So she takes a orange and purple marker, blindfolds the three of them, and takes one of the marker and puts a dot on each of their foreheads.

She removes the blindfold, and asks them to sit down if they see two orange dots. They all sit down. Next she tells them first guy to stand up and correctly tell me what color dot is on his forehead wins!

After some time, one of the guys stands up and correctly identifies the color and heads off to the hotel with her! How did he know what color was on his forehead!?

Um... because if they all sat down that means each person saw the other two as having an orange dot which means they all did? 😛

Was that suppose to be easy or am I really fvcking dumb and just didn't get it?

(a) He may have guessed.
(b) "and takes one of the marker and puts a dot on each of their foreheads" means she picked up only one marker
(c) "and asks them to sit down if they see two orange dots. They all sit down" means they all saw two orange dots.

(c) is consistent with (b)

I concluded the same thing, essentially. I suspect that the riddle wasn't iterated properly at the outset.

Or it was just a really bad riddle.

Hard to say much about her acting ability... I know I don't. I'm usually too busy starring at one of two areas on her body. 😛

Yeah, seriously. That was retarded.

I think you are all correct

this riddle isn't done right. i've heard it before, but can't remember how it was told.. grr...
You are travelling in a deep, dark forest when, suddenly, on a dark and stormy night, you are captured by the kind-but-not-so-bright forest people. They keep looking at you and saying to each other, "It be a smart person!"

You are marched to their village and seated in the square. Before you are blindfolded, you notice two other lucky souls seated in chairs facing you. Then you are told that the forest people king is about to die. He previously sent messengers throughout the land seeking the 3 smartest people. You are one, and two others have also been found. He now gives you all a task to see which one is the wisest.

He tells you, "I have seated you in an equilateral triangle so that each of you faces the other two. While you are blindfolded I will paint a dot on each of your foreheads. Each dot will be red or green so that there can be any combination of red and green dots, for example, 1 red and 2 greens, or all red, etc. When I remove the blindfolds each of you must raise your hand if you see _any_ green dots, i.e. 1 or 2 dots. As soon as you have figured out what color your own dot is, tell me how you knew."

So he paints a green dot on all three foreheads. When the blindfolds are removed, all three hands go up. After a long pause, the wisest person, (that's you!) say, "Your highness, I have a green dot. The reason I know this is that..."

...the other two both raised their hands. The combination of the two, plus the fact he could see the other two had green dots, eliminates the possibility that he has a red dot.

It makes sense if you draw it out. Simple "if then" problem.

I don't see how that works.

-------1----------

----2------3------

If you are guy 1, and guys 2 and 3 both have green dots, you'd raise your hand once you saw either of them, 3 would raise his hand when he saw 2, and 2 would raise his hand when he saw 3. That doesn't necessarily mean that 1 has a green dot.

[*]Since 3 hands went up, you know there is AT MOST one red dot.
[*]Since you saw person #2 and #3 have a green dot, you know you are the only possible person with a red dot. I think you got this far when you tried the riddle.
[*]Since they are all smart, they all realize that there could be at most one red dot.
[*]If #2 or #3 actually saw the red dot on your head, and since there was at most one red dot, they would immediately be able to answer the question about their own head.
[*]Since they couldn't answer the question immediately, you know your dot is green.

Of course this type of problem fails if either person #2 or #3 is an idiot or a lier (suppose they raised their hand without seeing a green dot).

If 3 hands went up every guy could have a green dot. You don't know for sure whether you have a green or a red.

Read past my second bullet point. IF your dot was red, and if the others were smart and honenst, they would immediately be able to answer the question. Since they cannot immediately answer the question, you know your dot isn't red.

Ah, I read that as "at least one red dot". I get it now.
