saw the name in many posts, but couldn't figure out what it is (a brand?), where you get it? why is everyone talking about it, and all that stuff... thanks.

I always remember it from "The BFG" a book by Roald Dahl (it stood for "The Big Friendly Giant")....

I have a feeling BFG means something else when it comes to the company...;)

Yes, it is a relatively new company that makes hardware, they are mainly known for their nVidia-based graphics cards. Their "claims to fame" are the lifetime warrenty and how they (usually) use high quaility components on their products. More info on their website

BFG Tech

You can buy their stuff all over the online shops, Best Buy, Fry's, and elsewhere.

Didn't the BFG (Big F'ing Gun) reference originally came from Doom or Quake?

BFG9k? I thought the Doom gun was the BFG10k. Did it regress for Doom 3?

I remember in 4th grade we read the Roald Dahl book Big Friendly Giant. I think I vaguely remember how it went, it was about these giants that eat little kids but there was this friendly one who always got beat up by the other giants but he saves these kids from being eaten. I think it happened in London.

Anyway I guess BFG quickly built up their reputation because BFG makes some of these forums' most recommended products. I use a BFG 6800GT OC myself and I have to say, although the two-fan is a bit loud (expertool fixes that) it runs great, runs games nicely, and very reliable. If you're going to get one make sure it's the one-fan :)

BFG 9000 sounds about right. I prefered the double barrelled shot gun.
I could get 20fps on Doom with my Amiga. Beat that :p
