Here's a good use for your old notebook

I've been a beta tester for a new program at www.MaxiVista.com - it lets you extend your desktop to the display of another computer, such as a notebook.

This is very different than other programs like VNC that bring another computer's desktop into a local window. This program allows you to use a notebook's display AS a second monitor. And it's amazingly fast over a 100Mb LAN.

I get nothing in return for making this pitch. It's just such a great program, I'm spreading the word.
 
I have one with a broken screen that I am using for a print server and network storage. I also want to setup a FTP server for family photos and videos, but the wife doesn't want that stuff on "the web". It is a PIII500 so it doesn't consume much power and it very quiet, i.e. I can't hear it.
