Here's a dumb question - is it illegal to run a videocamera in your car?

Wasn't sure about this - I'm in Ontario and we've got a road trip tomorrow, thought I would stick the HDD cam on the dash and let it role on the off chance something happens - any reason not to do this?

Thanks!

Depends. Do you drive like a knucklehead? If so, documenting yourself might be an ungood idea.

I wasn't entirely sure - I thought someone had told me once that if you film a cop busting someone it's illegal, but I didn't think so.

Haha no, I have a very packed car with another car following me with more stuff along the 401, it's going to be a slow ride.

I don't think so.

I've run a webcam from ontario to BC and back, take a few every few seconds, at least when the laptop didn't hang.
Just make sure you secure it firmly, it'll look like crap if the camera bounces more then the car.

ask dave, he seems to like videotaping his speeding traps.
