Sunday I'm heading to Ames for the Midwest Energy Association conference (I work in the power industry). I'll be heading back on Wednesday.

So, what is there to do in Ames? Des Moines is just south of Ames, so I would consider going there as well.

Thus, the challenge has been presented. Begin!

I got my Bachelor's there (great school for engineering) so I was there four years.

Here's the list of things to do:

Really though, I'm not sure what to tell you. I spent all my time doing homework. About the only thing I did that wasn't an on-campus college related activity was probably disc golf at the two courses in town.

Des Moines is even more pathetic - it's not a big city so you probably won't find much to do there.

Over the summer? Not much.

I was there for one summer doing research at Iowa State University. There's not much to do there cause everything on campus closes at like 6pm. However, you should go to Taco Johns. Their churros and their crispy chicken burrito are awesome!

That's what I figured. Any bars or restaurants that you would recommend?

I did find that Murder By Death is playing in Des Moines on Sunday night.

Oddly enough, a band from Columbia, Mo (where I lived most of my life) is playing in Des Moines on Wednesday night. I know their singer, and while he is a nice guy, his music is some of the most boring stuff I've ever heard. So, of course, he's really popular with the indie & emo kids.

<-- my post count is a palindrome!

LOL, I thought you were talking about the Peter Sellers/Neil Simon film, Murder By Death.

Take a walk around campus since it's a pretty campus. That will use up about 30 mins. of your time.

You just missed the world's very first international special olympics - it was held in Ames at the beginning of the month.
