Ok, so came accross a malware infected machine of recent.

Cleared it out using the classic tools (Malware Bytes, SuperAntiSpyware, McAfee, etc etc)

System reporting back fine as clean etc.

Only one problem - google does not resolve.

If you type in the IP address - it will load in the browser fine. But even pinging google.com does not resolve to an IP.

I have tried literally everything i can think of - and wondered if anyone else has come across this?

Things Tried: -

Flushed DNS
Cleared Browser Cache / SSL Cache
Set manual TCP / DNS settings
Rebuilt the TCP/IP Stack
Ran Anti Spyware again
Ran TDDSKiller
Tried 2 different browsers (again just as a long shot because as above, in command prompt pinging google does not resolve an IP)
Tried a different login/profile

All other websites work!

There are other machines sharing this connection, so i know the problem is local to the PC. Before i rebuild this, has anyone got any other ideas?

I'm sorry you are having issues but when you ask for help, why not just ask for it? I have a lot of friends/coworkers who want something (help, favor) and they make it sound like it's a fun game, a challenge, or a bet, or they're doing me a favor (let me finish those fries for you). Sorry for the rant but I find it to be an annoying trait by some people.

You don't say what infection was detected, and even though you've already done what would seem to be reasonable, including the tools used thus far, SOPs don't necessarily address the sophistication of the rootkit techniques being employed by the newest generation of malware.

If, per cl-scott's advice, you don't find bogus hosts file entries; I'd suggest running combofix (now updated to run on 7) followed by running SFC from the command prompt.

Sygzy - you make it sound like you're helping me, but yet your "rant" has no relevance to my post. Looking at your post count, I would think you would have the experience of a long term forum user to just avoid posts which annoy you? Perhaps chill like RadiclDreamer said and maybe think before you warrior your keyboard.

I was trying to make it light hearted, rather than just post another problem which is boring to read.

D-Scott - yep, had a look and no extra additions :-(

Rad/bubble - will try suggested items, thank you!
