re: E 1.30
Beautiful work. Thanks for the link.
Its amazing such quality libraries can happen in an open-source environment.
The last time I looked at E it was .71 v I think. Wow. Lot's of progress!

That press release was about the surrounding support libraries, Enlightenment the window manager is still at DR17 AFAIK.

You're welcome!

I downloaded/installed Macpup Opera 2.0 (like) a week ago.

E17 used .063 libraries. The latest snapshot is .49539

Heh! That's quite a jump! :)

Doing a little checking...

You're right (sort of). E16 is beta. E17 is alpha.

LoL! Better to be 50% right, then 100% wrong, yes? ():)

Except those labels are worthless, like the beta tag Google leaves on all of their stuff forever. I've been using E16 as my main desktop at home for at least 7 years now and it's been release quality for pretty much the whole time.

I've never used it before (this discussion) and I'm impressed, so say the least...

I'm on my "OLD PC" right now, and just checked my xorg.conf file. Somehow it got saved with 16 bit parameters. I changed the settings to 24 bit, restarted X, and E17 looks even better now! :awe:

I wonder if Jon will make a pet with the new libraries?!?!?

Hrm...

Here's a funny (on topic) story for you...

I'm rather neurotic, at times. Accordingly, I keep *feeling* a need to order a PC100 RAM chip (for this dino) at Newegg:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820146077

Hell, it's only $14.99 +FS. I can max out this machine to 256MB, instead of the current 192MB -- and it cross-references to my etower on the Mushkin site.

I was telling somebody about this. He told me...

When he worked at a middle school, he used an "OLD PC" that was slower than snot. He asked Tech Services if they could add some RAM or something, to make it faster. They ordered some PC100 RAM.

When the RAM arrived, the techie told him it cost $900.

He asked why they didn't just buy him a laptop for $600? Hello?!?!?

LoL! The techie said they can buy parts for "OLD PCs", but they're not authorized to buy new computers.

Bwahahahaha! Taxpayer money at work... D:

E17 is a whole other beast, I tried it once and had weird issues with windows that wouldn't disappear after that app exited. But that was a while ago so it's probably fixed now.
