WASHINGTON - The Pentagon on Friday tried to cast doubt on an account of military equipment shortages mentioned by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, whose campaign team stood by the story.

Fresh meat for the republicans.
Will they win, again, with the "are we safe" issue?

And will Obama be able to keep his foot out of his mouth,
until November?

As much as some hate Hillary, she does not make these mistakes.
And if she does, she uses their "machine" to recover.
Obama.... I think he's in for a very bumpy ride.
As well are his supporters, that is... if they even stay onboard till the end.
A problem the democrats suffer from every election cycle.

Are you sure those "new young Obama voters" will actually show up in November?
Kerry sure believed they would for him... And guess what.

ABC News confirmed the story, citing the captain Obama referred to. The only discrepancy was that the captain didn't specifically fight Taliban TO get weapons, but took weapons when he happened to fight Taliban.

The Army also confirmed. The only person disputing is this Pentagon spokesperson.

and it was in 2003 and the captain was a lieutenant at the time
not sure why candidates go with detailed stories like this during a "debate" , seems like knowingly putting your head in a bear trap

And really, this in NOTHING compared to what?s in store.
Notice the press has already begun to jump the
Obama mania band wagon?
They don?t care about Obama mania. They just love conflict.
Now that it looks the Hillary vs Obama conflict is coming to an end,
they re aim their sights.

So, its been established that Obama's comments were essentially accurate.

At worst the soldier gave Obama perhaps a few details that were not entirely correct, which really isn't Obama's fault, and there might of been a few minor details confused as Obama heard the soldier's story.

If this is the worst Obama's opponents can come up with, he's going to win the Presidency easily.

You can get the info on the ABC confirmation of the story at this link.

Should the Pentagon really be getting involved in a political PR slug-fest? I mean, it's not just bad taste...but there are actual LAWS about this sort of thing. If it's just a factual matter, that's one thing, but this appears to be more like "we don't like what Obama's saying" to me.

I've heard Hillary tell a story about she wrote a letter to NASA expressing a desire to be an astronaut. She said they wrote her back saying that they don't accept women as astronauts.

Seems a highly doubtful story to me. One likely concocted to play on her feminist thing. If hshe were the nominee I'd do some follow up on this story.

Remember when she claimed to be named after Sir Edmund Hillary? At the time of her birth he was still 2 years away from climbing Mt Everest IIRC. No one had yet heard of him.

Yeah, Hillary does make these kinds of mistakes.

Normally no, but it's just par for the course under Bush where every aspect of the Federal government is politicized.
