More like 1,000 people all rolling the dice for 10 years instead of all paying their fair share = $750,000. The one with a fire is just the sob story.

It's small government. Forcing them to buy fire fighting services (or health insurance) is librul commie talk!

Let's do the math.

If everyone in the county or town of say 10,000 people paid the $75/year, that's $750k to support the fire department. If the fire department responds to 3 fires each year for this same town, each incident would have to be billed at $250k for the same level of services.

Do you really think people living in a mobile home will pay $250k to put out a fire in their $10k home?

You don't seem to understand. These people voted not to have their property taxes fund a fire dept.

The city could decide to not even offer to provide fire coverage these home owners but they do. If they're not willing to pay $75 for fire coverage, that's their choice.

The government has failed these people, they should have the right to opt out.. By let's say not phoning the fire department, they should not need to opt in.

Another counties gov failed them?

Their own gov did exactly what the people living there wanted them to do. They didn't create a fire department so everyone could save a few dollars each year.

Would be the same if everyone in London paid taxes to cover a fire department, then the rest of the country who doesn't pay for one complains when the London FD doesn't come rushing to put out their fires.
 
I think this is the biggest problem with America, its not a country it's 50 different countries, there doesn't seem to be much national law sorting basic stuff like fire service out.

That's why we don't have to pay specific taxes for the fire departments they are sorted out of other taxes. It's not all decentralised like this.

Not sure why you don't understand. Your property taxes are local to your town/city, not the state. These folks have elected to have their property taxes not fund a fire dept, more than likely keeping their property taxes low.

Want to bet that you pay higher property taxes than these folks?

Don't pay your taxes? Then don't bitch when the city lets your trailer burns down.
