How to enable God-Mode in Vista & Windows 7.
Right click on the desktop and create new folder.
Name the new folder as follows but Without the quotes.

"GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}"

Enjoy God-Mode.

Note:On some x64 systems this will crash the machine.

repost, but cool tip anyway. It needn't be called GodMode necessarily. Hasn't crashed my x64 system yet.

It's not God Mode, rather someone just found the All Task Folder which is used when you search the Start Menu. 🙄

Also the "God Mode" name before the CLSID can be changed to anything you want.

No honest it's god mode. Next we'll show you "no-clipping".

Ok for those of you who aren't geniuses, it's not REALLY god mode.

Vista x64 does not like that.

It it made explorer crash in a loop. I had to use ultimate boot CD to delete the folder before I could use my system again...

Same thing happened for me. I have XP in a dual boot though, so I booted into that to get rid of the folder.

This happened to me too, i could have just booted into my linux OS and deleted it but i had wanted to go back to 32bit anyways so did a fresh install. So dont do this with 64bit vista.

Oh wow this brings back memories. I remember there was a CLSID you could do in win98 to get control panel in your start menu so you could navigate directly to a section. I suppose this works in newer versions too.

Do these special folders work off a USB stick? I can't see why not. This could be useful to make an "utility" stick for working with vista machines. I hate spending half an hour trying to find stuff like network properties and such.

Typing "network" into the search box takes you a half hour?

Well it make sense. If One can not memorize the two clicks that are needed to get to the Network Properties, it takes at least half an hour to recall how to spell "Network Properties", then comes finding the locations, on the Keyboard, and then the confusion about pressing Enter, or clicking OK.

The one thing that No one forgets, is his/her sworn prime directive, to keep complaining, and complaining.............., about any thing real, or imaginary that come across the span of each day in life.

D: - - 🙁 - :\ - 😱 - :awe: - 😕 - 😳 - :$ - 😵.

I did not know you could do this. I'm not really familiar with the vista interface hence why it takes me longer to find stuff. I usually avoid working on a vista machine. I don't get them that often though. Usually it's win98/xp that I get. Mostly xp now it seems. At some point I need to install win7 to play around with and learn it. No point in learning Vista now but I assume 7 is close enough.

Except that the search box on the start menu was one of the biggest changes in Vista/Win7 so I don't how you couldn't know about it. It took me about 5min to get used to using it. Occasionally I'll still hit Win+R to startup cmd or mstsc just because of muscle memory but that's getting more and more rare.

meh, I think most people are conditioned not to use the windows search since it has usually been worthless in the past.

Probably the best darned idea for this because you can get all your tools in one spot without needing to dig through the person's computer. The "GodMode" control panel trick is fine in Win7 x64, it's Vista x64 that will screw you hard when you try this. But as others noted, if working in Win7, the search is much improved and a lot of times I will type what I'm looking for (word, photoshop, etc). Probably more useful as an idea for use in USB utility toolboxes when working in Vista than Win7.

All items makes more sense since this special folder doesn't give you any more rights, it just puts everything into one place.

Okay, that makes some sense. I was just referring to the name itself, and a folder called "iddqd" (or "idkfa") is not as obvious for others to mess with. Although that wouldn't be a problem if the folder is ran off of a thumb drive.
