I downloaded the NT drivers for the 2000P and extracted them to a place I can remember them. Usually it will include UMAX\VISTASCAN...
Then, I installed them normally like you would under NT. I clicked on the setup icon and it went through the process. This is to install the Vistascan and the software that comes with it. Usually it also sets the drivers too but doing this with Windows 2000 will not work.
I went and right clicked the 1220U scanner driver in the hardware properties in the system window of the control panel, selected properties, told it to update drivers, then it told me to either search for the right drivers or search myself. The 1220U driver was placed there by default when Windows scanned my system and picked the drivers.
I picked to specify a location for it.
Then after that, I went into the directory of Vistascan\Disk6 then the directory in it U12x0.
There is this ini called 1220U and I selected it. There was a list of scanners and I picked the 2000U.
Not this is not the 2000P but it then asked me for a pv8630.sys file. There were two files in that same U12x0 folder, one pv863098.sys and one pv863095.sys. I renamed the pv863098.sys to pv8630.
Files are copied over.
And the scanner worked. Though the hardware configuration may tell you that there is a 2000U scanner that does not work, it does work.
Just something I solved today. Now to make my Hawking UC310 pc camera work without having the system to restart everytime.
