I am conntected to internet through LAN. My computer is the client. My roommate's is the proxy server and connected to the internet. I am sitting here and unable to connect to internet because my roommate is sleeping and his computer is shut down. Can I boot up his computer using WOL given his mobo support it and he has a cable connected to the WOL header from the NIC? Both machines have Win 2000 on it. We use Windows NetBEUI protocol to share internet. So all I need is to boot up the server.

Sure, but unless the proxy is running as a service, it won't do you any good because the system won't be logged in.
