Here was the first and it just seemed suspect

I've got an obviously counterfeit cashier's check here somewhere from when I tried to sell a Harley via CL. I did actually sell it from that ad, so props to CL =)

The scammer sent me the fake check, made out to something like $8k over asking price, with a bunch of "hurry up and cash it" type messages. The thing is - it was a terrible counterfeit; I'd have been laughed out of my bank. As obvious as it was to me, though, it would probably fool some people...

I always give them the local number to the police dept, when they ask for Id's, many states show examples of the drivers lic's...."David Sample" was one name I sent back to a scammer, they never caught on.
