Yup...those Olympic mountains can really throw a detour into storms.

When we first moved back to Warshington state, we lived in Bremerton/Silverdale...nowadays, we're right on the Pacific coast....and get hit right in the face with nearly every storm. (avg. 75" of rain annually)

Going along with that rain shadow is the Puget Sound convergence zone.

Our new property is right in the Olympic rain shadow, which is not that hole you have depicted in the OP. That was from winds out of the west-ish.

We looked at See-Quim a few years ago. Decided it was too dry for our liking.
