Hi,
let me start with the rundown on my system components:
Duron 600 O/C 933Mhz pre-tested by Outside Loop Computers
FIC AD11 rev. 1.2 BIOS ABA45
2 sticks of Crucial 128MB PC2100
WD 20GB 7,200 RPM ATA/66 Hard Drive
Visiontek GeForce 2 GTS, now an MSI GeForce 3 Ti200 Det 21.83
SB Live! Value
Creative Labs branded Conexant HCF V.90 PCI Modem
Linksys LNE-100TX ver. 4.1
Win98SE, etc.
Well it seems that when I cold boot the computer will get past the BIOS screen and then just sit there with a black screen and a little blinking cursor up top on the left hand side. I simply press reset and everything works OK. Besides that the computer has been rock solid. This used to be more like 20% of the time, now it is 75% of the time or so!
I have tried just about everything you can think of. I have stripped the system down to only the video card is in the AGP slot, swapped out cards, replaced the power supply to a better rated 300watt model (Antec PP303X (from my Classic Athlon 600 days (160watts 3.3v and 5v rails combined) to a Sparkle FSP300-60BTV (200 watts 3.3v and 5v rails combined) this did not cure it. I have played around with an IBM 60GXP and a T-Bird 1.4Ghz CPU from my dad's computer but none of the components did it either. I have reflashed and cleared CMOS, etc. but all to no avail.
This has been creeping up on me, but I do not rememeber having this happen when I first got this combo, back when FIC was the only affordable DDR solution for the AMD760 chipset. I briefly pulled the AD11 with a Soyo K7ADA but it sucked and had issues of its own, so I did not really get a chance to troubleshoot it. You think this is a defective BIOS chip? / motherboard?
Thanks,
