Might I ask what kinda memory your using? Perhaps other people reading through this thread can avoid the same problem 🙂

I have some Kingston ValueRAM PC/2700 DDR SDRAM. Yes, it sucks terribly. No, I did not know that when I bought it (early adopters - in this case, of the 8RDA(+) - usually get screwed, as I did). I'm probably going to order some Corsair XMS PC/3200 DDR SDRAM tomorrow, unless I can find some way to make this stuff work.

From what I have been reading is that HyperX has been having compatability issues with P4 systems, while the ValueRam works nice (I use it 🙂). Sounds like it might be the opposite with AMD systems... :disgust:

There must be a plot... Kingston's mantanity must be to let the peeps going with P4 systems to spend less money while the AMD people have to spend more money from the CPU price difference. 😕:disgust:
Perhaps you didn't want to hear that 🙁.

Either that or you have bad memory, there is always that possibility.
Not necessarily bad memory, but incompatible memory. It sucked, anyway. Now some Corsair XMS PC3200 DDR SDRAM is in my computer, and it's working great. Gentoo 1.4 is up and running with a 2.6.0-test4 kernel, and the XFree86 4.3.0. Right now I just have TWM installed (the ugliest Window Manager in existence), but plan to install KDE tonight. 🙂
