You blind sheep. These poor souls were never tried for any crimes and we were never provided any proof or documentation of the crimes they were always associated with.
They, just like Jessica Lynch, were unjustifiably promoted to larger than life characters by the media to keep you entertained so you wouldn't resort to more interesting programs such as "the real world".
