I have an Enlight 7237 with a 300w power supply, and it's time for some mods to increase it's aesthetic appeal and it's cooling properties. As it is, I have an 80mm exhaust fan mounted in the rear (the case has the mounting for it already), an 80mm intake in the front, and the power supply exhaust fan. The case still has all the ugly, airflow-reducing, sharp-edged, metal vents over the fans.
My plan is to remove everything from the case and dremel out the original fan mounting holes and polish off the edges. In the back I'm going to put chrome grilles over the fans with no filters since they are only exhaust fans, and in the front, I'm going to add a filter over the fan hole to reduce the amount of dust that gets into the case. My concern though is that by adding the filter, I'm going to be reducing airflow, so I was thinking of removing that plastic housing for the front 80mm, and just swapping in a 92mm or a 120mm fan to compensate. Which would you guys recommend if noise was also going to be a concern. The fans are all going to have washers between them and the case to reduce noise. I'm also going to increase the size of the front bezel holes to maybe 4-5mm so air can travel though more easily.
That should be pretty easy, but adding a lexan window will be the fun part. Is it practical to use a dremel to cut a one square foot window out, or should I try and get access to a jigsaw? I was thinking about using a circle cutter with the lexan and mounting that 80mm fan that I'm taking from the front of my case over the cpu and video card, but would that screw up my cpu fan's performance?
Finally, I'm going to paint it all a metallic grayish/blue. I mean all because I plan on painting the drive covers and bezel too.
