folks,
i'm using digital doc 5 to measure temps throughout my system. to measure the temps on my radeon 8500 i stuck one of the skinny thermal probes into the thermal paste that attaches the hsf to the gpu. during gameplay i'm actually getting temps OVER 80C! can this be correct? is digidocV on crack? is my probe messed up? i used this probe on my geforce3 ti200 and got readings that seemed reasonable - 40C-50C, depending on the load. i checked the fan and it is running, tho i'm guessing it doesn't move much air since it's silent. my system seems to work ok so maybe the temps don't matter, but this seems awfully high - i'd hate for my system to catch on fire! btw, these temps are achieved with no overclocking. anybody know if this is acceptable?
