Hercules GTXP USB ports

If you have USB ports onthe Mobo (Which most do) do you need to do something for the system to recognize the USB ports on the Hercules GTXP? The system recognizes the game port on the GTXP but no luck witht he USB ports.

Ya see I am trying to NukeUSB to do a new install to get my Analog rudder pedals to work with the USB stick and throttle. When I run Nuke USB it does not recgonize my USB flight controls!

I have a Epox 8KHA+ MB

Thanks!!

As long as you plug the USB cable from the break out box into the USB port on your mother board you should be golden. I have a printer and a game pad and sometimes I plug my camera into it without a hitch.

I have a similer problem with the usb ports on my game theater as well , for some reason all my usb devices work except for one
my forcefeed back percision pro (kindof ) it's like its a lack of power or something i do not not know , works fine when i use the ports in the back of the computer just not on the game theater. my advice to you would be to try some other devices on game theater,to make sure the game theater is the culprit and at the worst bite the bullet and plug it in to the back of computer
😉

What other USB devices do u have connected to your computer? Is the device u are trying to run power intensive?

The problem can come from power sharing that USB does on the same USB root. There is only a limited amount of power (in mA) available on a single root. The solution is to change to a different root (one root is usually generates two USB ports at the back of your computer). So if you have 4 USB ports then try connecting to the other two on condition there are no other power intensive devices connected to that root (ie USB powered scanner, USB optical mouse, USB webcam, USB ADSL etc).

Another solution in theory, one I have not tried yet is using a usb hub which has additional power unit. Common and cheap.

Just in case this is your problem, remember that some Via Chipsets have had some serious flaws coping with USB power management. Check your motherboard site to get the latest bios updates. What happens is that all USB devices connected to the same root power off without warning as the via chipset old drivers can't cope with power intensive devices.

No, the GTXP's USB ports gets it's power through the PCI port. It does not share with the USB ports on the motherboard. Now that I think about it, the USB ports were "hit or miss" with me also when I used to own a GTXP. Never gave it much thought since I always used the USB ports in the back of PC first. I guess this is more common than I thought.

I had a HP 930c hooked up and would not work but thats the only thing that didnt work properly.

Sorry Brian48, but I think you are mistaken as the GTXP connects both through the PCI card to which it connects but also through a USB cable connected to a USB port. If this isn't the case on yours then there are different models out there.
