I just got a Herc GTXP, thanks to all the suggestions on the forum... And i gotta tell you, upgrading from a sound blaster live value (even running on win 2k), I noticed no difference in sound quality.

Now I wouldn't exactly call myself an audiophile, but i'm not deaf either...

Just for future reference out there, the GTXP IMHO isn't worth the money for just the sound quality. The sound DECK on the other hand is definitely worth every penny. So if you jsut need those inputs and outputs, get it.

I couldn't even tell differences using the sensura ear program and sony mdr-v600 headphones.... I mean, exactly how much 3d positioning can you get from just a left and right speaker?

I've made my opinion heard before...in addition to slightly better sound from the GTXP than my old SBLive Plat (yes, yes...my opinion), I've had less problems. I had crackling with the SBLive, and I get better CPU utilization (1% max) from the GXTP since it does MP3 encoding/decoding on the Breakout box.

I do agree with you about the inputs though...it's an audiofile's dream. I haven't used all of them yet...but I'm trying to...:)
