Vote on which one is the best sound card right now/or in the future (hopefully with future driver updates it'll be better) Im currently building a gaming PC and wondering which one I should get. I also use it for listening 2 music and watching movies.
 
I'll reserve my vote until I get an Audigy in my hands.. I've got a GTXP right now, and I loved it.. except I just upgraded to XP and as many have stated.. The GTXP will not work with XP currently.

codehack XP works beautifully with XP. You just need the det 4's...BELIEVE ME!!! It didn't work for me either...now it works flawelsy...

I've tried *all* of the tricks, det4's included. It does not work.. believe me, I check the Herc forums on a daily basis.

Dang it. It worked for me...I had to swap out the original HercXP cd with the WinXP cd about 10 times to get all the crystal stuff installed. Oh well 🙁
 
Hey codehack, I did hear that almost everyone who had GTXP who used the Det4 it werked 4 them
BUT U HAVE TO HAVE A NVIDIA VIDEO CARD which i think u should have
otherwise it wont werk4 u
BTW, is the audigy ex worth that much 2 get?
Or should I just stick with the GTXP which i might plan 2
 
chris, the admin on the herc forums, announced that the oct drivers for the gtxp will rock:

XP support, improved 2k support
5.1 support in games!

its worth the wait IMO, remember creative didnt give a fat f*ck about consumers with the 686b problem and the lack (decent) of 2k drivers forever.

meanwhile, you XP people will have to stick to the /maxmem=256 trick, or the WMP trick, its all good.

Well Ive got an Audigy Platnium EX on the way for $170 thanks to a discount program with the company i work for. Now all i gotta do is wait for it to get here than get XP Drivers.

Can't vote because there are different answers for your question.

For gaming, SB (Audigy, Live! doesn't matter) because the SB card DOESN'T "drain" your CPU as much as the GTXP. Yup--you read that right.
For watching movies: GTXP--especially if you have a "ghetto" 5.1 surround sound system. It works great.
MP3s: it's a tie in my opinion.
 
drain cpu cycles? Sounds good to me. Shoot we all got cpu's over 1ghz. We need something to let it crunch on 🙂
 
LoLz...is this true? after all this thing hearing audigy was better ppl are voting 4 Hercules GTXP even with their drivers problems and updates? LoLz
