Ok I am wanting to buy this card. But my question is: I have a standalone DVD player and a stereo that is dolby digital ready (i.e it doesn't decode DD but has the 6 analog inputs). My computer and dvd player sit right next each other. Can I use the GTXP to decode the DD into anlog for my stereo?

Yes the GTXP has rca analog outs for all 6.1 channels. Yes it will now do up to 6.1 channels. So go ahead buy it and enjoy.

NO!!!!!!!!!!

The Hercules GameTheater XP DOES NOT do ANY Dolby Digital decoding (nor does it do DTS decoding). The reason why there is a Dolby Digital logo on the GTXP retail box is because they bundle in Cyberlink's PowerDVD 3.0 (or PowerDVD XP 4.0 if you get a newer package) which has been certified by Dolby labs as being a capable softDVD player to decode any and all AC-3 bitstreams.

Yes, you can connect your set top DVD player to the GTXP, but you're not going to get surround sound; moreover, you'll not even get quadraphonic sound.

Yes, the Audigy does (so the the Live! 5.1 series cards)...but it does it through it's drivers (aka software decoding just like PowerDVD 3.X and higher and WinDVD 2.55 and higher)

The Audigy IS NOT a 6.1 sound card!! It only allows for 5.1 surround sound. DD EX literally adds 2 more rear speakers for a "center rear channel" by matrixizing the rear left and rear right speakers to the new "center rear." The real odd thing about DD EX is that you should have 2 speakers for this "center rear channel"

DTS ES is a true 6.1 format where there are 7 channels of audio. ;)
