Hercules Fortissimo 2 and XP problem

Hercules fortissimo 2 I have loaded the soundcard and it locks up when installing the drivers. I have to go and uninstall it in safe mode to get working again if not the computer locks up after booting. Never get any sound out of card from the day I put it in. Running a Tyan 2266 motherboard with a Pentium P4 1.6 512 meg o'ram. Have been to Hercules web site and downloaded new drivers but still no luck......HELP!!!
