I just got a Hercules Prophet FDX 8500 LE, and the drivers on the Hercules site are based on the 7.66 drivers, but I want to be able to use the latest ATI reference drivers. I can't get it to work though. If I just run the ATI installer, it says I do not have the right card. If I just direct the Windows driver install wizard to search for the best driver, and then direct it to the location I unpacked the drivers, it will say it can't find the drivers for my device. The only way I can get it to install the drivers is to tell it I have the disk, and then manually direct it to the location. But, when I do that, I have two different 8500/8500LE drivers to pick from. No matter the one I pick, it will not work.

I've heard it's possible to use the ATI drivers with the Hercules card, so why won't it work? Even the Hercules drivers are just repackaged ATI drivers, when I run the Hercules installer, it says "ATI Device Drivers" and has all ATI logos, no mention of Hercules anywhere. Anyone?

I just figured out why. There is a note on the Hercules site that says reference drivers above 7.66 will not work right now due to a bios problem. They say they are working with ATI to correct the problem.

That sucks, I wonder how long it will take them to get that out?

I just flashed by board with a hacked BIOS from Gigabyte with the retail ATI product code, and now I can install whatever drivers I want. :D Screw waiting for Hercules!
