whats this new video card
i can get it for 230$CDN comapred to $300 for the ATI part
but the tech specs shows that its a 8500LE chipset?
is that one inferior to the regular 8500 or better?
or is the performance in between that of the 8500 and 7500

You might want to check out the Hercules site at http://us.hercules.com/products/features.php3?id=28 for more info on the technical specs of this card. The LE version is clocked at 250/250 (probably with 3.6 ns DDR) and the Hercules product is no different. You could probably even overclock it to 8500 retail performance levels with a bit of tweaking but, as always, your mileage may vary. There's a store in the area (at www.canadacomputers.com) which stocks the OEM version of the Hercules 8500 LE at a nifty $229 and I have to say that it's looking like a pretty damn good buy to me, too.

The LE is clocked at 250/250 compared to the 275/275 of ATi's own retail board.
No word on what memory Hercules uses on their boards, but judging by past tendencies it may well be the same 3.6ns DDR used on ATis retail boards.
Worst case scenario it'll ave 3.8 or 4ns DDR SDRAM, though I doubt it'd be any worse then 3.8ns RAM as there arent very many R8500 LE's that come with 4ns RAM.
