Herc GTXP: Front 3 Speakers Not Producing Sound

Hey all,

I am running WinXP, with the newest Herc 3.02 Drivers, and I noticed this same problem to a lesser extent in Win2K with the 3.02 drivers. When I first built my rig, I used the drivers that came on the CD, and as far as I can remember, the whole 5.1 system worked great. Then I upgraded to the 3.02 drivers, and I _think_ that the front speakers seemed to get weaker. Now that I upgraded to XP, I don't notice the front speakers producing any sound at all, in any app, game, or movie.

The speakers themselves work, because I've played around with the plugs and wires to verify it. I am thinking its either a driver issue or a blown amp (My speakers are some sh1tty Cambridge Soundworks DTT2200's). Anyone else get this problem?

This problem has been mentioned by different users around forums on the Internet.

I'd try totally removing the drivers for your GTXP...and try again.

Hmm... I had no idea anyone else had this problem.

I've tried reinstalling the drivers (removing then cleanly installing), but that hasn't helped. I've tried to use the 2.02 Win2K drivers but they don't work either.

Of course. There seems to be a "hiss" coming out of those front 3 speakers. Mind you, the two surrounds and sub work fine. I think I should also note that the amplifier on the sub is analog, not digital like most other 5.1 systems.

also, there is an option in the GTXP cp that says "small speakers" which i believe reduces the db...

i have no idea what im talking about but hope this helps.
