That is ridiculously powerful but with a twin turbo setup on an LS7 I believe they'd have no trouble hitting that. As far as dropping it back to 800hp I wonder if they sell you a tune and the device to load it. I can't imagine you can just drop the PSI on the turbos and have it not run like shit.

I do think its stupid that they advertise the car will do 242 miles per hour. More than likely the gearing limits you to somewhere well south of that unless they've replaced the rear end. Even if they have, that car is not set up to do that kind of speed without spinning off the road. The cute little ground effects package they put on there will probably make it lift off.

At this stage I think it's good for a laugh and no more. Their name is in the toilet.

That's exactly how detuning works. The car will run fine. I can use my manual boost controller and dial in 7.5psi to 15psi on my Miata and it runs fine in either situation. I can disconnect the waste gate actuator and run 0psi and it runs fine... just doesn't develop any boost...but that bit was unintentional.

Read here and here. Wouldn't touch a Hennessey vehicle with a 50 ft pole.

There have also been recurring allegations of his taking customers' cars and money, but not providing agreed-upon work. See http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?viewThread=y&gID=6&fID=455&tID=171

I think the reason he keeps getting business is that his handbuilt cars have been so successful in single-day magazine tests and comparos. Obviously that says nothing about the cars' ability to survive past that first day, or about the quality of his service.

Couple of quotes from that Raptor thread :D
This posted today on Top Gear.com. Just seems to fit so perfectly

"John Hennessey doesn't build cars. He builds bombs. Supercharged, turbocharged, V8-powered weapons capable of cataclysmic destruction"
I wonder if I could get hennessey to work on my ex wifes car.

:D

These machines cannot be reliable. I just dont understand how they could possibly be.

They said they put three whole tanks of fire extinguisher into it and it was still going.

Look at the link back threads at the bottom of this link.

Most, if not all of the complaints are years old - supposedly he got his act cleaned up and makes very good supercars.

Like all custom shops - some things do not go right with every car. He has a lot more satisfied customers than unsatisfied ones.

I hate reading things like that. Someone cleans up their act and suddenly they're ok again. The big thing is whether they made everything right for their past customers.

Not the same, but its the same reason I'll never shop at tigerdirect. They screwed over tons of people when they just started out but thats all "ok" now.

The article has to be wrong. I doubt it's an LS7. Most likely a 427 LSX block.
