Helped needed -- Scammed on Paypal

I sold a laptop (N5125) and shipped it Saturday. I shipped it to:
Lorenzo Mindana
44 San Agusta St. Lallana Tondos
Manilla, Phillipines 1012.

I have always been skeptical out of country but this seemed valid. I received emails from admin@zerogear.net and payment from a different email address.

Anyway -- I now find out that paypal has reversed the charges due to the following:
Recently, PayPal received a notification from a user regarding
unauthorized access to his PayPal account. As a result, one of
the payments credited to your PayPal account has been reversed.

Is there anything I can do?

I shipped it Global Express Mail and they say they can not stop delivery -- which will be approx Friday.

Any thoughts would be helpful. Looks like I am out $600+.

I'm not commenting on the fact that you sold it to some dude in the Phillipines.

Ah, YAPPST.

Nothing you can do. I take it the user was not verified international. Not that that would help anyways....

This is EXACTLY one of the reasons I dont touch PP with a 10 foot pole anymore. Too much buyer fraud.

its quite simple actually, DONT SELL TO ANYONE INTERNATIONALLY. sell in the united states to someone who is verified and ship to the address he has on his paypal account. that is saving your ass big time. good luck in getting your money back, but like everyone else said, i think youre SOL.

Actually, the customer being international isnt the problem. You can get scammed just as easily from someone in the states.

At least with people in the US you can possibly use the law to get the person. Good luck with international law.

Contact PaypalDaemon...not sure if anything can be done, but it's worth a shot.

My question is:
Is there anyway to stop the shipment? I Called the Express Mail # and they said no but as we often know: "No does not always mean no".

It was shipped Global Express Mail. Cost $74 to ship!

The package is insured for $500. Claims include "rifling". What is rifling?

What is PaypalDaemon's email?
I am also having difficulty finding the paypal phone #.

Can I just cancel my account? (Stopping Paypal from deducting?) (Not sure if this would work since I was refunded $800 last night for a laptop I was buying that had an issue -- may stop the refund credit to my bank account).

Did paypal already reverse the charges? Or did they just email you but didn't do anything yet?

Keyword: Possibly.

Remember lucky? His municipality told them to call a different department, which said "Not our area, call this department" which in turn referred him to....et al.

Get the picture? I dont ever want to have to prosecute someone in a criminal case regarding buyer fraud because law enforcement apparently dosent know whats going on.

Paypal reversed the charges. I thus have a negative $692 balance. I still have $802 waiting to transfer to my checking account. If I close my account what would happen?

Cant close it.

Look, you've been scammed. Period. I mean, theres not much we can do for you here so you might want to go kick a trashcan or something.

Perchance, was this on ebay?

This was listed on ebay but I closed the auction.

I do realize I have been scammed.

I also realize that there are some very smart people on Anandtech -- most likely someone has dealt with a similar situation more successfully.

I would suggest posting about this in the FS/FT forum, likely to get some help there.

Also go to TrollHunters and see if they can offer some suggestions.

At least post in the Do Not Trade thread in the FS/FT forum to help prevent anyone else getting burned.

Sorry ya got scammed. :(

Why are you being so rude to this person?

What do YOU stand to gain by your rudeness?

This is helpful advice.

The guys in the FS/FT forum will have a lot more experience with something like this and probably will not be as rude as some in this area.

Best of luck to ya.

I'm not being rude. I'm being realistic. Kicking/Beating the living hell out of something is probably his best outlet right now. What do you want me to do? Hold the guys hand and kiss him like a frenchman? That sure as hell isnt gonna get his $600 back. He asked for thoughts, not sympathy and a shoulder to cry on.

I've seen this way too many times for me to count. If he gets his money back, I will be VERY suprised.

I bet that 9 out of 10 times, the buyers are able to get away with the fraud because of ignorant sellers. There are MANY red flags in that story and if it were me, the guy would've never gotten sold my laptop in the first place.
