Hi all. i kinda new here and i just want to share a problem of mine.

My computer is a C2D E6300, Asus P5B, 2 gb ram, 7600gt 256, and 2 x 250 seagate sata

i have Vista 32-bit as my OS

sometimes when i turn on the computer, i get the message, "Insert System Disk. Reboot from system disk and press enter" or something like that. I tried restting a few times and still the same problem.

Now, what i did was unplugged the 2 HD sata connectors and plugged them in another slot (the board has 4 of them), and then everything worked perfectly.

However, over the past few months, the same thing happens again and again... and i just keep doing the same thing over and over (switching the connectors back and forth until it boots). this happened about 5 times this year, and i cannot pinpoint what is exactly triggering this problem.

What is the main problem here? is it my board or is it the hard disks? Please guys... im getting tired of switching the plugs over and over. i need to know what part is causing the problem so i can have it replaced (my PC is still under warranty)

Thanks a bunch!!!

It's a weird problem. I'd try flashing the bios to a newer version if that's possible. And read the mobo manual. Maybe it sais something about using the 4 particular sata slots with 2 HDs.

If your cure is to unplug the cables and reconnect, then I would start there.
Spend a buck and put in new cables and see if that does it.

While you are at it, check out your hard drive and test out your memory.

The fix is found through a process of elimination. Start eliminating.

i just upgraded my bios a couple of weeks ago... same thing happened...

alright... ill try swapping out the cables with new ones and at the same time, ill check out my hard drives

any good hard drive software you guys recommend?
