So I finally get my monoprice component cables and hook everything up. When I go to setup. 480p, 720p, and 1080i (I heard bad things about 1080i, should I leave it unchecked?) work fine but 1080p does not (asks me to set to 1920 X 1200 X 60). Is it because I'm using component cables? Would the problem be solved if I got a dvi splitter and an hdmi to dvi cable instead?

Yes, it's b/c you are using component. The 2407 is unable to accept 1080p over component, and I'm not sure if the PS3 even outputs 1080p over component. Using a DVI to HDMI cable should fix your problem!

AFAIK it does do 1080P over component, as of some firmware fix, but SLCentral is fucking right on. Just researched the same problem for one of my buds.

Sounds good. Just ordered an HDMI to DVI cable from monoprice and a dvi switch from ebay. Thanks guys!

Does the DVI switch handle 1080p well? I was under the impression that some of the cheaper DVI switches did not do 1920x1080 very well?

I know you can get a cheap HDMI switch with remote though that will handle 1080p just fine. I haven't had to look for one myself, just kind of wondering if it's easy to get 1080p handling with a DVI switch as well?

this might be dumb, but can you not do 1080P over VGA with PS3? If so, you wont have to get a DVI switcher.

Um, I think you can if you have the right firmware, I think it was released early summer/late spring.

Ah, I wasn't sure if there was some stupid "thing" that prevents high definition to be sent through "analog" cables.

I'd do that but I'm not aware of any PS3 -> VGA cables...

Here's the DVI switcher I bought. Link

The guy has lots more at that price if anyone is interested. According to the auction, it should do 1080p just fine...
