When I go to install Windows 95 on this older IBM Thinkpad laptop, it freezes right on the so called "Welcome" screen to the installer. Strange thing is, I installed the exact same copy of Windows 95 on an identical computer a few weeks ago and it worked fine. Any ideas at all would be appreciated.

<< mabye a bad slot of ram? or it culd be overheating. >>

I doubt overheating...no matter how long i leave it on and then try to install windows, it freezes in the same spot in the same way. I dont know about the RAM....I'll have to look into it. Though I highly doubt that is the case.

<< what use to be running on the older ibm laptop before win95 >>

OS/2 Warp

The other one I worked on had the same OS before, and it worked fine when I upgraded it.

well, it obviosuly must be some bad hardware though, because if you installed the same OS on the EXact same computer, we can rule out hardware conflicts. Im still thinking bad ram, bad ram can freeze up a computer at a loding screen. By the way how many DIMMs are being used up? If there are more than 1 DIMM used up, i would say try taking everything but one out, and then trying installing. Hav eyou tried instaling 98 or any other version of windows?
