I'm currently using a Dell D XPST650r. Proccesor is a PIII 650 MHz processor.
I would like to purchase a faster processor maybe a PIII at 933 MHz or faster.
Can someone tell me how easy or difficult this will be! Any advice would be
greatly appreciated by a novice. Thanks for any help! brothercane.

Replacing CPU is fairly easy task.

But PIII 933??????
You need to know if your mobo support 133Mhz FSB. (assuming it is BX chip)
You also need to know if your RAM is PC133 "ready".
Then , if your Video card capable of 86Mhz Bus (assuming it is AGP)
It will be easier just getting the 100Mhz FSB CPU. (assuming you want to stay w/ Intel)

Suggestion:
If your PIII 650 really can't satisfied your needs, then you might want to consider switch to AMD system.
MOBO + T-Bird 850 = PIII 933 alone.
(T-Bird 850 has very good yield to 1Ghz anyway)

like the previous poster said, the actual changing of cpu is fairly straight forward. go here & download/use the cpuid utility utility. this will tell what fsb your present cpu is running at. if 100fsb then you will need an E coppermine; if 133fsb then an EB coppermine. don't get an EB coppermine if your present cpu runs 100fsb as the ram may not cope with running at that speed.
