Lagster, a new fan would not cost very much. How about just replacing the fan itself?

The "best" mainstream heatsink for a Slot A Athlon is probably an Alpha 7125, a very nice unit sold with or without fans. Probably a bit overkill. Plycon is running ads for the AnandTech distributed-computing team at no charge, so I picked their site for the picture, hint hint ;) Alpha 7125 kit at Plycon

Several other places to look are 2Cooltek, Millisec, Phamcomputer, The Card Cooler, and Memman. I tend to think the VOS32 would be more than adequate even if you were overclocking. Another thing about the VOS32 is that it is quite large, so you could put a quiet-running Panaflo L1A 80mm fan on it with a couple of zipties, and it would be much much quieter than with the stock pair of 60mm high-output fans.

thanks --- i just have a few questions. Which one is bigger and more quiet running the VOS32 or the Alpha ?? Because there could be some size problems. So you think the Golden Orb is not worth wasteing the money ? Also the taisol if found is THIS ONE

tell me what ya think

The Alpha is sometimes offered with expensive Sanyo Denki 60mm fans that have low noise levels. Noise level really depends on the fans. Like I said, if you want an effective, quiet CPU fan/heatsink combo, get a VOS32, take off the noisy 60mm fans, and put a Panaflo L1A 80mm fan on it. I did this with an old Tennmax heatsink on my sister's Slot1 P3 450. Works great and is very very quiet. :)

Panaflo fans are not as easy to find as, say, Sunon. I got mine from teamawe.com. Make sure to get the L1A model, if you are doing this.
