I don't think I fully understand your statement, but I will attempt to help. You could relate the economical and technological advances of the time and closely relate them, this will easily allow a 5 page + assignment/presentation.

well Impact55, thanks your help is really appreciated but i think my brain just kicked into overdrive and i'm pumping out ideas like crazy. and i just decided to change my topic into genetic engineering (referring to, of course, Dolly the sheep!) and debade about advantages and disadvantages of cloning.
