since you edited your OP, i cant remember what distro you used.

if its a mianstream distro (debian, fedora, ubuntu, suse etc) instructions should be easy to come by. for ubuntu it *should* detect that you have an ATI card and offer to install the drivers with a click and a password.

dont know how well they work. they work *pretty* well on my x1300, but its not exactly a modern card.
