Hi, and welcome to anandtech.

I am gathering you made a motherboard change, used your current hardware and tranfered them to the new board correct?

If this is true, and by tranfering some questions from you are needed.
Are you doing a fresh install or are you trying to use the original installed OS that you have on your HD?

Because you are transfering from a HP PC, this will be a bit of a challenge for you and you might have to make some sacrifices along the way.

So, with that being said, you might want to start by replacing all that you have back to original by using your HP mobo and if it all boots correctly, then we might have a chance here. If you want to save your OS, you will have to uninstall ALL hp devices and software from your HD from within "control panel" and "Device manager" from the property section in "my computer".

What is probably happening from your change is that your new motherboard does not reconize all the hardware (drivers) and some of the software (drivers) from within and you have to delete them before you make the switch. But be advised, you have to delete all the drivers to the HDD etc and do not reboot until you have removed all. Make sure before you shut down you have done your homework and removed these devices.

When you transfer your hardware back to the new mobo, just use 1 stick of ram, your HD, mouse, keyboard and your DVD. Make sure you have all plugs in the correct spot and when all is doublechecked, Boot and get into Bios and make sure your HDD and DVD is reconized and the boot order is to DVD first. then when this has been completed, hopefully it will boot into your OS. You WILL have to have your new mobo drivers disk to install the appropriate drivers.

If you want to do a fresh install, disreguard all the driver removal and get into BIOS of your mobo, make sure you have all your drives reconized and in the boot order and then boot. You will need your OS and drivers disk. Good luck!

Thank you for the recommendation but my original board is malfunctioned, that's what HP said. I think I should have added more details. I was able to turn it on once to the point where I could enter BIOS but it shut down completely shortly after I entered BIOS. After that incident I tried to turn it on again but only the CPU and the front LED for the ON switch would turn on, only things I noticed that had energy running through. Nothing would show up on the monitor but the CPU fan would be running at full speed. The power supply is working. I decided to call a local comp shop and they first made me switch out my RAM. Then the guy had me unplug the power connector from the powersupply and hold the ON switch for 10 secs. That didn't work and when I turned it on again the LED for the ON switch wouldn't glow anymore.(don't get confused with the green LED on the back of the powersupply) So he concluded that something was wrong with mobo, cpu, ram, or psu. I then posted stuff on here and xtreme system forums. I tried minium connection and no HD attached. None worked. The CPU fan would always be running so it is obvious power is going through the board but nothing would show up on the monitor. I tried reconnecting the I/O plugs like vga but not success. I then called the comp shop again to ask about your recommendation and the guy i talked to was much more helpful. It was obvious i couldn't do the above due to a bad original board. He asked me a bunch of questions and we couldn't pin on anything that might have been bad or anything I did wrong. We were going to try booting w/o any memory to do the CPU check thing but my mobo didn't come with the sound thing so he recommended to come to the shop and he'd check it out for free. What do you guys think? Do you see any other options and thing I might have overlooked, a solution? The shop does a first come first serve for the free service and I would like to avoid having to get up very early on a weekend.
