ok so I got a gtx 480 and when I play wow when I get really high there are wavy lines on the edge of the water. This is on dx11 by the way. So I tried my bros monitor which works fine on his computer with wow and same thing  So then I put in my 3870x2 card which I had laying around and same thing in wow(world of warcraft).
build is a quad core
4gb of ddr2 ram
160gn hdd
700w psu
and both gtx 480 and 3870x2 show the wavy lines...
(tried switching monitors didn't work)
(switching graphics cards didn't work)
(uninstall drivers/install drivers didn't work)
(cleared cmos and reinstall bios for both gpu and mobo)
still didn't work... :\

Could just be a game issue, what is the CPU? WoW isnt very GPU intensive and tends to like more CPU.

If not OC'd i would push that yorky at least up to 3Ghz. And yes a memtest wouldn't be a bad idea.

Overclocking is an issue with the pc because its got an intel motherboard that does not allow overclocking unfortunately. I will try switching things in and out tomorrow and will post up the results I get

In the first post were some of the things I tried to see if It would fix it. Today so far I have tried
switching his 700w psu onto my build and putting his gtx 480 on my computer. the graphics look perfect nothing wrong with them. So now I know that the wavy lines that showed up in his build were from the base hardware. Any suggestions on what it could be? In this case it could either be the ram, cpu. hdd, or even the base which is the motherboard? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

still no results... reinstalled the OS and nothing changed in game. still see the wavy lines. its really frustrating me because i know its not the gtx 480. My bro spend a lot of money on his build and with this happening its really upsetting him..

Found a fix for world of warcraft. You can either reinstall wow and it will fix the wavy lines, or you can delete the WTF folder in the gamedir and update wow. Wow will install a new folder and that will fix it.
