Why wont my wired router work with a new docsis 3.0 modem.
2 routers and a day later my old router is working.
Problem modem link not connecting to router wan link.
Reset router to defaults for the 6th time.
Open routers web page still no wan or up time.
Removed modem cat6 wire waited 30 sec.repluged into router while router status page
was online. strange
Many ISPs associate the MAC address of the computer (or router) that is connected to the modem and only assign an IP address to that MAC address. You need to either obtain the WAN MAC address of your old router and clone it to the WAN port on your new router, or call your ISP and tell them that you have a new router so they can update their database to allow the new router to connect to their network.
New modem never accepted the old router.
The docsis 3.0 raised ds from 30m to 36m cool.
Had router up twice reset router lost wan both times.
I am starting to belive you thanks so much.
