I got my new motherboard, cpu and ram (see sig) today
when i turn on my computer, all that happens is the power LED flashes....a very trusted friend told me this is probably a problem with the motherboard...HELP!!!!!
 
Can you test your cpu in someone else's board, how about your ram?

Also check all the cable connections. I once had a computer that wouldn't work, and I thought I checked all the cables, but it still wouldn't work, so I decided to take everything out and put it back in, and then it worked. I think it must have been a cable was loose.

Does it work outside the case, could it be grounding against something?
 
What ps are you using? This sounds like the cold boot inrush current is exceeding its capacity and it's shutting down.
 
the one that came w/ my case...aspire 350W...it doesnt shut down, the power LED just flashes, nothing comes up on the screen
 
Do the fans run? Is your supply 24 pin? Did you plug in the extra 4 pin connector for 12V? Does your video card need power from an extra connector? Sorry about all the questions but more info is needed to help understand the problem.

Try removing everything not absolutely necessary and booting, i.e. memory and video card only. If you haven't used the memory before, try removing that too.

Also possible is an extra mounting stud shorting to the board, it is a pain but you might try powering up with the board outside the case on cardboard.
 
fans run...psu is NOT 24-pin, but i was told it wouldnt be needed since i am not using PCI-e
if there is/was an extra mounting stud, my board isnt killed is it?
 
The 24 pin is not needed, just plug the 20 pin in with the retaining hook on the correct side and the plug at the upper end of the receptacle (it only fits one way easily although with a big enough hammer...). I use a 20 pin supply with my VNF4 and it works fine.

This board REQUIRES a PCI-e video card, it won't work with a PCI card. Others have run into this and been forced to buy a PCI-e card. You may be able to drive a second display with a PCI card but I don't think you'll get off the ground without a PCI-e card.

I don't know much about video cards, I don't game so I got the least expensive PCI-e card I could find on eBay, an X300, and it works fine for my needs. Perhaps an inexpensive PCI-e card will allow you to use your card in another slot?

Your symptoms of fans running but no beeps match those quoted in the thread above so adding a PCI-e card should get your system going.

Gadgetbuilder is absolutely correct. This board will NOT work at all with a PCI video card. For some reason, it seems to have a quirk wherin regardless of whether you choose PCI or PCI-E video in BIOS, it still will not work without a PCI-E video card. PCI video cards DO work, but only with a PCI-E card also plugged in, so this is purely a solution for those needing dual-video. You will pretty much have to get a PCI-E card in order to get your board working.
