I just purchased and installed an new chaintech vnf3-250 mobo w/ athlon 2800+ 64 bit processor. I cannot get my pc to boot now. I swapped out my hdd from my old pc, which was working fine. I do not want to setup a raid configuration is htere a way to just use the IDE channels? I have heard such good things about this board i do not want to send it back but I am at my wits end. I get a disk read error when it boots. do i need to reinstall windows xp home or what?

Have you tried connecting your hard drive using an EIDE cable to IDE 0 connector on the motherboard, and resetting the BIOS using the CMOS jumper? You don't need to set up RAID.

Do you have a sufficient high quality 300W+ psu? Is the heatsink installed properly and connected to the fan header? Did you connect the 12v-4 pin powersupply wire to the board? Is that ram/video card properly installed?

And most importantly is the computer plugged in?

Boot into safe mode. Hit F8 repeatedly after your system POSTS.

When you changed motherboards, you typically do have to reinstall windows, but you could also try installing your motherboard/chipset drivers once in safe mode.
