Hey im a noob to computer building. I just got a soltek mobo socket 754. I set everything up, plugged in everything. When i start the computer all the fans spin for 1 seconed then everything shuts down. I still see a red light on my mobo shining though. Do you guys know what the problem could be?

Some quick things to look at:

1) the mobo might be one of those ones that wants an RPM signal on the CPU fan header, and it isn't seeing one

2) the PSU is inadequate or its ATX12V secondary cable isn't plugged in

3) a short circuit someplace, such as a case's USB wiring being plugged in incorrectly, or the springy finger things on the rear I/O shield are getting into the network jack or USB ports

Good luck :)

Well i have a 500 watt allied psu. I can see it light up and the fans move for 1 seconed. I think it might be because i plugged the CPU fan into a fan 1 slot. I cant find any other place to put the Heatsink Fan in. Im using a soltek nforce 3 250gb. If somebody could help point it out>

The owner's manual for the motherboard will show where you should plug in the CPU fan. It may not even matter, but on some motherboards it does. Is your CPU fan an RPM-sensing one? If it's a retail AMD fan then it is.
