I just put together an AMD 3200+ computer with a K7 Triton motherboard, 512 mb of ram, Sapphire Radeon 9600 with 256 mb video card, running Windows XP Pro, with an LCD monitor. My LCD loses signal intermittenly. I have uninstalled all of the programs and re-installed them one by one (including operating system). This did not solve my problem. I contacted Sony and they sent me a new monitor, but alas it has the same problem. I bought another brand LCD and after a day and a half it too loses signal. I'm at a loss, because when i put the Sony on another computer it works fine. The other computer has all the same software, but is an AMD 2500+ with another Gigabyte board running a Radeon 128 mb video card. i also tried it on another computer with a Sapphire radeon 9600 256 mb video card running an AMD 2000+ with an Asus motherboard and it worked fine.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

9600 with 256mb? Ouch.. anyway, if it only doesn't work with the video card in question, I'd look there. If you can, transplant the card to another pc and see if it works well or not. If not, RMA time. If you can, get the 128mb version as a replacement. Only newer cards need 256mb ram, and only in certain situations. Older ones with that much generally use much slower ram to save money as they jack up the price, and are of lower overall quality.

I've even tried 2 different video cards. one was a radeon 9200 128mb and the sapphire radeon 9600. Same results with both cards.

Looks like something intermittant in the AGP slot. I would point to that - ie., the mobo. :(

Or . . . how about the digital cable? Have you tried swapping it out?

Yeah, three different LCD monitors and three sets of cables. I've tried DVI and analog. Same result.

Then it pretty well looks like the mobo's AGP slot.
