HELP!!!

Alright, so I picked up an X-Fi extreme audio today because it has an optical input. I plugged my Xbox 360 into the X-Fi after properly installing, and I heard the startup sound fine. As soon as it's in the dashboard i hear a very quick clicking sound. I went into audio setup and if i change it to stereo the sound goes away and it works fine.

Any idea why the sound card is not properly reading the 5.1 signal?

Alright, I've figured out that Creative does not and never plans to support Dolby on Vista with the X-Fi line of cards.

Basically I have a $50 paperweight because this was the cards ONLY purpose. I have seen fixes for the X-Fi cards but the "Xtreme Audio" (the card I own) is apparently architecturally different and those fixes don't seem to work.

Can anyone help or do I have to return this piece of junk and make sure nobody I know ever gives their money to Creative again?


Alright. Looks like tomorrow I'm trading it in for a turtle beach card.

You better check if the cards even decode DD fast enough. I heard when people use the x-fi + drive bay to decode the xbox DD on XP it has some latency which throws off the audio too much.

I'm not sure about the turtle beach but better ask around.

that happened to me for even playstation 2. Playing street fighter 3 and trying to parry was a bitch.
