Well i just got all the parts to my new comp in and im pretty sure its booting correctly except for the fact that no video is displayed. tested 2 monitors and the video card they all work. Anyway i know this is the wrong place to post it but i would prefer a speedy response and this is my best bet 🙂

video card is seated correctly all plugs are checked etc etc.

heh, i spent the last week troubleshooting my new mobo (having similar problems to this thread Q) and most people told me to check the bios, so damn annoying..

anyhow..

setup the pc outside of the case, lay the mobo on a non-conductive surface and try it...it might be grounding somewhere

remove all the stuff from the mobo, leave only the power switch, speaker, and power supply cables on it
er uh leave the processor too

turn it on, see if it beeps, check your bios beep codes for more info

next put in the ram, check for beeps

make sure everything is clean and seating right ...contact the mobo manuf for more info or post on their forums

what kinda board is it?

anyway all components are seated properly and reseated properly :\ no error beep codes or anything
 
It could be RAM I had a system that did not give me any beep codes and would not give me a video signal b/c the RAM timeings were a little to strict for its likeing. Its not like the RAM was bad either. Are you running it with one stick of two for dual channel?
 
Make sure you installed your HSF properly. I followed my HSF's instructions exactly and fried my CPU because didn't think to remove my shim. I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting a video signal...

Oh well, it was time to upgrade anyway... 🙂

brand new board never had a chance to set ram timings

I dont think i fried my cpu, if i did expect me to commit suicide immediately after i find out.

That was the problem, I did not set mine either. It auto reconized to the RAM (Good DDR 400 corsair XMS). I only got it to work when I poped in some old DDR266 and lowered the timeings and set them manually.

Now my second question is why in the world are you not wanting to take advantage of the Dual Channel Memory in that board.

You may have noticed we neglected to list the "Twin" series memory modules. Don't let memory manufactures fool you, there is no such thing as "Dual Channel DDR" sticks, they are just regular DDR sticks that have been bundled together.


Thx for the help every1 i think i got it. there was a misplaced/extra copper stand for the motherboard mounts removed it and voila, hopefully it will stay good 2 🙂

Yah, but you still have to use Two sticks in tandom(sp?) to get the advantages of dual channel DDR that is offered through the chipset on your board.

The thing was, I couldn't smell it or anything. I had no idea what was wrong and that was the last thing I checked (after multiple video cards and trying to run the system on a cardboard box). If you haven't, just check it. It could save you a lot of time in the long run.
