ok i just reinstalled xp pro corporate (with sp2) on a brand new hard drive.. now it seems i have NO sound!

Windows tells me there is no active mixer, and i have un/reinstalled all the drivers a few times.

In device manager there is a conflict showing "microsoft kernel acoustic echo canceller" and "microsoft kernel audio splitter" both on "device 0"..

ive switched up the PCI slot a couple times, removed all signs of the sound card, booted and the conflict went away..

reinstall brought me back to the same damn problem.

anyone have any ideas? How do i resolve this conflict without another format?

I have a soundblaster live 128 PCI

Hi - welcome to the forums

with sp2, it sometimes requires the latest bios updates, chipset drivers, and hardware drivers.

hope that helps.
